“Always come back to your roots,” my grandmother said. Roots are those tangible and intangible things that connect us, bind us, center us, and ground us. Roots are community. Roots are reality. As in nature, our roots nourish us, protect us, and sustain us. In a lot of ways, our roots give our lives meaning.
